On November 17, 2005, the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout®
will celebrate its 29th year of helping smokers quit smoking forever. For nearly
three decades, the Society has designated the third Thursday of November as a
day for smokers to resolve to kick the deadly habit of smoking. This year, the
South Atlantic Division is proud to offer a whole new way to encourage others to
stop smoking,
www.QuitForYou.org.
From this website, you can:
- Follow
the journey of a smoker from your state as they chronicle what it’s like to
quit smoking.
- Post a
comment as a word of encouragement to them.
- Send an
e-card to family, friends, co-workers or legislators.
- Link to
www.cancer.org for
tips that can make it easier to quit.
- Go to
the Clean Indoor Air section, which explains what lawmakers are doing to
lessen the impact of tobacco in each community.
- Join ACS
CAN (Cancer Action Network) to get involved in advocacy efforts.
-
View the press
center, a resource for media contacts.
-
Access other
materials to participate in the Great American Smokeout®.
Please help us spread the word about
www.QuitForYou.org
and the Great American Smokeout!®
Grassroots communication is the key
to our success in this campaign this year. Help us spread the word. Thank you
for your support.
