Dear community partner,
The American Cancer Society is pleased to announce the launch of our Health Equity Community Grants program for 2012. The purpose of this grant program is to increase cancer screening through community outreach and education, and coordination with screening services. Grant applications should address breast, cervical, and/or colorectal education and referral to screening.
The community partners eligible to apply are hospitals, local health departments, and HRSA listed Community Health Centers. However, applicants must also partner with other local organizations in order to reach the community with cancer education that leads to screening.
The applicant must select one priority group for their grant, based on the demographics and needs of the community:
- African American
- American Indian
- Asian American
- Hispanics & Latino
- Rural
Eligibility for a rural focus is limited to applicants based in a non-metro county or city, as defined by the US Census Bureau. See the link below for details.
Awarded grants will fund efforts that are in collaboration with local American Cancer Society staff and volunteers. The maximum amount is $10,000. Proposals for smaller amounts are also encouraged.
Applications must be received by February 22, 2012.. Organizations interested in applying should review and follow the instructions available at the link below.
