Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
January is National Cervical Health Awareness Month and the Best Chance Network is encouraging women across South Carolina to have regular cervical cancer screenings. A Pap test is the best way to detect cervical cancer early. South Carolina is currently ranked ninth in the nation for deaths from cervical cancer. Our goal is to educate women in South Carolina about the importance of getting regular screenings to detect cervical cancer in its earliest stage and to remind those women who have never or rarely been screened about making an appointment for their Pap tests.
You Can Make a Difference In Women's Lives!
Click here to download a bulletin that provides brief facts about cervical cancer. These bulletins should be given to the women in your life and those you may encounter. Be an advocate and educate others on the importance of having regular cervical cancer screenings. Below is a list of instructions for distributing the bulletins.
Instructions: - Print the bulletin that was sent to your email address.
- Cut along the dotted line with scissors or a paper cutter. (This will form two bulletins per print out). Each bulletin has two sides:
- The front of the bulletin displays (1) a scripture, (2) a reminder about Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, and (3) the contact information for the American Cancer Society.
- The back of the bulletin displays cervical cancer facts and risk factors.
- Distribute one bulletin to every female and encourage your audience to get screened annually.
Here are a few ideas:
In Your Community: Tell everyone you meet at church, beauty salons, drugstores, discount stores, and grocery stores about the importance of cervical cancer screenings.
Churches and Synagogues: Have a special cervical cancer awareness program during your service.
Worksites: Hold a cervical health workshop for your employees or set up a cervical cancer awareness display.
Thank you for your support in making a difference!
